The sun slips softly beyond the horizon,
and the world grows quiet —
it grows still.

That is when it begins —
the loneliness,
the ache,
the memories I keep leaving behind.

They rise like restless tides,
and I drown in their madness.

The sound of your voice,
the warmth of your skin,
your strong hand wrapped in mine —

I reach for you still.

My tears only feed the swelling sea,
each wave pulling me deeper,
threatening to take me under.

I suffocate in the ghost of your arms,
once steady, once safe —
now a reminder
that love could not salvage us,
could not protect me,
did not save you.

And still,
in the hush of evening light,
where shadows stretch and silence breathes,
through ink-dark nights,
I ache —
I long —
for you…
