Chapter 1
Childhood: Where the Story Began
Our childhood is the first place we learn about love, safety, trust, worth, and belonging. As children, we don’t have the ability to question the world around us – we simply adapt to surviving within it. The ways we learn to cope often become the foundation for the beliefs, fears, and relationship patterns we carry into adulthood. This isn’t about blame or reliving painful memories. It’s about understanding where your story began so you can decide which parts of it you want to keep writing and which parts you’re ready to rewrite.
Reflective Questions
1. What are your earliest childhood memories? What emotions come up when you think of them?
2. If you could describe your childhood in 5 words, what would they be? Why did you choose those words?
